Is it correct to say birds of the same feather flock together?
In a forest, birds of the same species are seen flocking together. Parrots are seen with other parrots; owls with other owls and hornbills with other hornbills.
Even wild animals move around in herds. Birds stay with other birds of the same breed as it helps them to protect themselves from predators. The same is the case with animals.
Students of the same nature often develop a good rapport with each other. In a classroom situation, two children from economically weaker backgrounds become friends with each other rather easily. On the other hand, those children who hail from affluent societies stay well connected amongst themselves.
Birds of the Same Feather Flock Together Situation in a Neighborhood
In a neighborhood or residential complex, the people interact amongst themselves on the basis of similarity in language, customs and traditions. Then, even when people migrate from the country of their origin and settle in a foreign country, they have this inclination to visit the homes of only those folks with whom they share the same nationality.
It is the inborn characteristic of men and women to hang out with those folks with whom they are both compatible and comfortable with. In other words, people prefer to associate with those with whom they share a common interest.
At other times, it can be seen that a group tends to stay together because their language is similar. On other occasions, their customs and rituals may be the same. Human beings also tend to mingle with those with whom their food habits and dresses are similar.
Yes, it is correct to say that birds of the same feather flock together. However, this situation is not favorable for growth and prosperity. Besides, in life, there is little scope for progress if people are hesitant to come out of their comfort level and explore new territories. Intermingling of cultures leads to knowledge and expansion.
