My Grandfather Essay for Class 10

Hello Readers! This post features My Grandfather Essay for Class 10
My grandfather is ninety- eight years old. He is a positive, bright and charming man. All his life, he’d worked very hard and had life a frugal and disciplined life. I love to spend quality time in the company of my grandfather because I have learnt some important life lessons from him.
Our relatives often visit him with flowers, puddings and fresh fruits. In his youth, my grandfather had always made it a point to visit them and help them during their times of need. Today, he cannot visit them anymore because his movements have become restricted. He stays indoors most of the time. Our relatives have never forgotten the little acts of kindness that my grandfather had done for their benefit. Today, when he can no longer walk outdoors, people make it a point to drop by and engage in some great conversation with him.

Some of the most important things that I have learnt from my grandfather’s life is that it is important to be caring and sensitive towards the needs of other people. My grandfather had always given financial support to the less fortunate folks in his family. He made it a point to give such assistance whenever it was possible for him to do so.
Moreover, he often said that he felt happier by taking care of other people’s needs. It gave him a sense of peace and tranquility. Today, at age ninety-eight my grandfather is a joyful and contented person. I feel that the sense of bliss that he enjoys today, even at this advanced age, is due to the good things that he had done in the past.
My grandfather loves to talk. In fact, he can spend several hours talking even at this advanced age. When a relative drops by, he feels delighted. He loves to go down memory lane and often recalls interesting incidents from the past. Also, he keeps a couple of cheque books beneath the mattress to offer financial assistance to anybody who would need them.
He wakes up early in the morning to relish the songs of the birds fluttering about in the balcony. After his bath and prayers, he settles down for a cup of green tea. Sometimes he takes a couple of sugar free biscuits with his tea. He enjoys the quietness of the house in the early hours of the morning. Occasionally, he opens up an old family album to take a look at the wedding photos of his children and grandchildren.
My grandfather has always believed in living a frugal life. He had never spent his hard-earned money on comforts and luxuries. Instead, he would make donations of all the extra money that would come his way. He also had a habit of saving money.
My grandfather told me that it is important for a person to save money while he is still young and healthy. He has always dissuaded me from unnecessary expenses and wastage. Instead, he would encourage me to extend a helping hand to the poor and the needy.
Personally, I feel that my grandfather is a brave man. Over the years, he has battled with several health issues, but he never allowed his problems to break his spirit. He has always looked at life with gratitude and optimism. The smile on his face is a marvel to behold. It inspires me to stay positive even in the middle of my saddest moments.
There are quite a many valuable things that I have learnt from my beloved grandfather. The most precious lesson that I picked from him is about socializing. Man should never live in isolation. It is important to make friends and be kind to others. Our confidence grows only when we reach out to others. Grandfather has told me that even a man with a family can be happy if he learns to connect with all those people who have no families or friends.
I have learnt to keep myself fit by going for long walks. When my grandfather was younger, there were times when the two of us would go out for long distance hikes. I feel that my grandfather got to enjoy a long life primarily because of his consciousness to keep himself fit. His enthusiasm for exercise and outdoor life has contributed towards his longevity.
Sometimes, even in the middle of all the love and attention that my grandfather gets, he does have this tendency to feel lonely and depressed. Personally, I feel that the old man misses his old friends from his school and college days.
Almost all of them are now dead. My grandfather has outlived some of his closest buddies. Occasionally, he tells me that he misses all those folks with whom he had read novels and newspapers together. The friends with whom he had visited a cinema hall or a tea stall together are no longer alive now. On such occasions, I hold my dear grandpa’s hand, letting him know that I’ll be there by his side at all times.
I feel incredibly proud of my relationship with my grandfather. His life is a blessing to our family. We feel so fortunate to have him with up. Whenever, we face difficulties, we run to him for solace and comfort. He has taught all his children and grandchildren to stay united, be strong and resilient. Additionally, he has influenced us to be gentle and kind towards one another. He has taught us not to take criticism in a negative way. His has instilled in us a deep faith in the benevolence of God.
Indeed, there is no other person in this world who is as good as my grandpa. He is not only heroic, but charismatic and magnanimous as well. Moreover, he is an epitome of simplicity and thoughtfulness. I pray to God that my dearest grandpa be blessed with many more good years in this beautiful world. May the values taught to us by this elderly man help my family and relatives to stay strong and united at all times.
